Harry Potter Novel Connections (Part 3)

Many story connections exist between the Harry Potter books that sit at opposite ends of each other; i.e. books one and seven; books two and six; and books three and five. Finally, book four shares many connections with each pair of books. This post looks at books three and five, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, respectively.

Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban prison as a supposed Death Eater. Later revealed to be innocent.

Ten Death Eaters escape from Azkaban prison.

 

 

Harry is informed that Sirius Black is his Godfather.

Boggarts appear in Defence Against the Dark Arts classes and in Harry’s private lessons with Lupin to combat Dementors.

A Boggart appears in a study in number twelve Grimmauld Place.

 

 

Dementors guard Azkaban prison and that they are searching for Sirius Black.

Two Dementors attack Harry and Dudley at the beginning of the book.

 

 

Professor Trelawney informs Harry of a prophecy that Dumbledore later reveals to be the second one that she predicted.

The first prophecy given by Trelawney is the central prophecy of the series.
